IOC Selects 7 Projects for 11th Advanced Olympic Research Grant Program
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that 7 research projects have been selected for the 11th “Advanced Olympic Research Grant Program” managed by the Olympic Studies Centre. These projects were chosen for their academic quality and relevance to the IOC’s defined priority areas for Olympic Movement research.

The core goal of the program is to encourage in-depth research in the humanities and social sciences, fostering collaboration between academia and the IOC. It funds university professors, teachers, and researchers with a PhD and academic affiliation during the grant period, with selections held every two years.

This round focuses on health, equality, and participation in Olympic sports. Highlighted projects include:

  • A study led by Alison Bows from Nottingham Trent University on “Health support for elite female athletes and the role of policy and practice.”
  • Research by Hazel Maxwell’s team from Western Sydney University titled “Policies and programs to advance gender equality in leadership, decision-making, coaching, and officiating in Oceania Olympic sports.”

These selected projects aim to address critical issues in the Olympic Movement, bridging academic insight with practical applications to drive progress in key areas like athlete well-being and gender equity.
